STURDY BUT NOT VERY HANDY
Pros: sturdy, great suction Cons: not functional regarding the power cable
This is a great GPS mount, except for the fact that it is poorly designed regarding the power cable. When (dis)mounting the GPS you need to remove the cable to put it in the mount. Very inconvenient, apart from that this is a good mount with flexible arms.

THIS THING IS GREAT!!
Pros: easy programing, good directions, fast start up! Cons: none!
This has to be the best $200 investment I ever bought. From easy programing, to a great screen, plenty of volume settings plus there are lifetime map updates! I took it out of the box, looked over the "Quick Start Menu" input the address's for an upcomming buisness meeting, and was guided to unfamiliar address. Best thing I can say about it was that while I was at my meeting, my wife put in address's for places she wanted to go to and when I got out of my first day she said "this thing is the best thing you have ever ordered"!

When you use this mount, there is never a fear if the suction cup will let go. Good solid mounting, lots of options.

STAYS INB PLACE, NO MATTER IF IS HOT OR BELOW ZERO
Pros: stays in place even with heavy gps Cons: plastic disk plate with adhesive not included
The original mount for a Garmin 1490 si just too small and cannot hold the weight of the GPS (nuvi 1490) for very long, it would often fall off after 5 minutes. Since I switched to the RAM Mount, over a month ago, It is still in place, no problem. The only draw back is that I did not come with the Plastic Disk Plate with Adhesive, so if you get one, do not forget the Disk (large one).

RAM MOUNT FOR GARMIN NUVI 1400 SERIES
Pros: solid, stable with versatile modularity. Cons: quality issues with some of the overall finish.
I was looking for a GPS mount that was more versatile than one provided by Garmin and decided on the Ram Mount based on previous reviews and the great product videos provided by GPS City. The Ram Mount unit is solid and very stable when mounted to the windshield. The range of motion you can achieve is great and I like that that the GPS sits closer for viewing. I did have a problem with the quality of some of the parts. The Mount Cradle Diamond Plate wasn't fully drilled through on one hole so I had to do that myself. Also the black powder coating below the rubber ball was flaking off. It didn't make it less usable but was a visual distraction to those of us who are anal about that kind of thing.

EXCELLENT MOUNT
The mount with the gps on it has been on my car windshield for several weeks and is still solid. I removed it once to install in another car for a long trip and it stayed in place there also. It is more than worth the money.

GPS FOR POOR EYES
This navigator does all that I expected it to do. I can see all that is on the screen without bifocals. The touch screen makes it easy to input while on the go. Although not advertised, it also shows elevation which is nice in the mountains. It goes on and off with the ignition switch so it is always at the ready.
Two cons. One I have yet to figure out now to program a long trip before leaving home. Two the screen smudges easily, even with clean fingers which is only an issue with the top down and the sun on the screen.
