NUVI 500 CLAMSHELL
Pros: ram quality as always
Cons: have to modify to fit power cord before installing
probably the same as other reviews.... great product as always, but had to dremmel out around the usb plug in so that I can now plug in to rear of garmin, THEN snap it into the clamshell... Why would Ram oversee such an obvious design error??????

GREAT MOUNT
With the 2 pivot points, this mount is very flexible to fit in the most demanding location. I used it on my snowmobile to position my GPS on the dash under the windsheild.

GOOD SOLID MOUNT
Pros: good quality. fast shipping
Cons: none
Fast shipping. The mount has rubberized joints that appear to absorb some bounce and vibration. Very solid. I mounted my NUVI 550 on my SeaDoo Sportster - a very bouncy boat in big water. Very happy with the purchase overall. The mount that came with the GPS is crap by comparison.

STURDY MOUNT FOR OPEN BOAT
Pros: metal construction.
Give's secure feeling for mounting Nüvi 500 unit in open boat use. Exremely good adjustability even on a sunny day. Metal construction gives assurance for longevity.

GPS MOUNT
I originally had a homemade bracket for my Goldwing, that I rigged up to hold a handheld GPS. I purchased a new Garmin and ordered the RAM swivel mount along with the GPS bracket that is far superior to the one Garmin gives you with the mount. I am very pleased with the mounting system and would recommend it to everyone.
