BEST QUEST MOUNT FOR MOTORBIKE, SNOWMOBILE OR ATV
Cons: the gps gets scratched around the corners.
This is actually my second RAM mount for my quest. The first one lasted for ages and took huge abuse in harsh conditions on motorcyces, snowmobiles and ATVs. Eventually the top clip broke from the repeated removal of the GPS, but giventhe long service, I would never criticise it fo that! This is a tough bracket that will keep your GPS safe even in extreme bumpy conditions like cross country ATV racing. The GPS has NEVER fallen out of the bracket. I have just bought another TWO because I would hate to find I can't ge a replacement in future. One negative: the The gets scratched around the corners. The trick is to apply a thin film of silicon to the inside of the bracket. Smooth it to paper-thin with your finger, let it dry, and when it is 95% dry, insert the GPS an let the silicon form to the exact fit of the GPS. I did it twice to my old bracket and each time it lasted years, and protected my GPS from scratching. In effect, ou are rubber lining the bracket.

PERFECT
It's a low cost item so there's nothing jaw-dropping about it. It fits my ram mount perfectly. Now I've just got to wait till riding season returns to Southern Ontario.

Review: The Garmin Quest w/ cradle and 1.75" mounting arm/diamond plate have provided me with 1000's of miles of navigational information. I purchased the Quest unit and a specific mounting plate for my Honda ST1300. The unit sits right between my tankbag and the speedo/tach; not in front or interfering with either. I don't have to move my eyes much to get the Quest information I want. Since I ride back roads with plenty of elevation changes (sea level to 9000'), I have the Quest set to give me speed, altitude and total trip distance, numerically. Then I have the screen set up for 1.2 or 2 mile resolution so I know what is coming up in the way of turns. With the ambient temperature gauge on my motorcycle and real time altitude changes reading out from my Quest, I can predict if I'll need to plug in my electric vest, take it off or watch for black ice (a REAL hazard when only on two wheels!). I'm not sure why the GPS V and StreetPilot are always talked about. Compared! to the Quest they are about 3 times as big and mounting them is a little more problematic, i.e. they CAN obstruct speedo/tach and or slap your tank bag. I did quite a bit of research before I purchased the Quest, and it really fits my needs for navigational and geographical/spatial information well, in 1/2 the size of the aforementioned units. Yes, on my Honda ST1300, the Quest works out well. And, no, I do not work for Garmin! Jeff, San Diego, Ca
