GREAT
Pros: will not move with heavy units
Cons: need a little more room to mount than other types
This style of ram mount works better for the HDS8 and 10 than the 2.5 ball mount. It does NOT move in rough water were as the other does. Its also alot easier to take the mount off when traveling.

RAM MOUNT HORIZONTAL BENT SWING ARM
Cons: mounting harware for hds catches on swing arm.
Supeior mount for Lowrance HDS system at the console for a steady environment. Mount's two point adjustment is perfect for making the unit available while at driver seat or when needed viewing from either front or back of boat. Swing arm base plate mount fits flush but should have a 1/8 - 1/4" riser on the shank as the mounting hardware when installed for your sounder's gimbal baracket will catch on the swing arm when pivoted unless unscrewed enough to allow the base plate to be twisted/walked over the top of the swing arm without marring the surface.

A BIT BULKIER THAN I EXPECTED
I got this mount for use with a Lowrance HDS-5, which is a 5" screen chartplotter/fishfinder that I am using as my main fishfinder and backup chartplotter. I was a little startled when I unpacked the unit and saw how big it was, but I think it is going to work fine. (I realize it is made for larger displays, too.) I have several other RAM mounts and like them.

EXCELLENT
This product worked excellent on my 17ft War Eagle that has a tiller arm motor. It puts the sonar/gps wright at your fingers. Highly recommended.
