This item comes with the adapter for handlebars, although it is not shown. Ask the sales person and do not order the adapter extra like I did and cost yourself another $3.50 with shipping.

Cons: plastic bottom piece can break
These work well for mounting Garmin GPS's. This about he third one I bought. I actually bought this one to mount an auxiliary high intensity headlight. I bought a short clamping bracket and a ball with a 3/8" hole for the light end. It went together well. I haven't had a chance to try it riding rough roads at night yet.

STAINLESS STEEL RAIL U-BOLT BASE WITH 1 INCH BALL
Pros: works great on the bike.
Ram mount works great to fit on the head stem of my bike. The 1-1/4 U bolt was very snug almost did not fit on the head stem.

GOOD PRODUCT, BUT ITEM IS NOT AS PICTURED
The functional quality of the item is good and it works well. However, the bolts are not raw stainless steel as pictured. They are black, and the plating is of extremely low quality. Actually, I hesitate to call it "plating" it's closer to a bad paint job. Worse, as delivered the coating was already chipping off. If looks are of concern to you, be warned.

I put this on the handlebars for my mountain bike. It hold my Oregon 450 securely and easily lets me track my speed and distance.

PAINTED U-BOLT
Received the item quickly with no problems. BUT, one nut did not have any threads. Not a huge deal, but a pain to run to town to get a locknut. Also the u-bolt is painted black. It doesn't match the picture and I doubt if I got a stainless one. I am sure it will work, but the experience was disappointing.
Recommend? NO OPINION

Cons: painted black hardware. pealing paint.
I do not like the black painted hardware that they come with now. Looks cheap. I have not bothered with calling to advise as they know the issues with the units. Ram should go back to the unpainted u-bolts and nuts. Why paint stainless anyway?

NOT AS DESCRIBED IN THE AD!!

What I got was a crappy BLACK PAINTED u bolt instead!Part # RAM-B-231U not the RAM-B-231LU I ordered!! Their explanation, "this is how they come now" Then change the web site description!!
I order a handlebar mount for my bike. Stainless steel u bolt for the bar. I get my shipment today, what do I get, a black u-bolt. Clearly the package has the wrong part # on it compared to what the receipt says. I call to inquire. They tell me this is how they come now. It even states Stainless Steel on the receipt. So I ask, why does it not say this on the site? No answer for that. Then they tell me I can take paint thinner and remove the black paint. Can you believe that? Or, I can send it back for a refund but they will NOT cover the shipping charge to send it back. Talk about great customer service. I told the person on the phone, no thanks and I won't be doing business w/ them any more. Like I'm sure they care.
That's the last dollar of mine they will ever get!! Your customer service sucks!!!

easy to use mounts very solid, recommend using rubber or couple layers of electrical tape between the u bolt and handle bars.

EXTREMELY UGLY NEW HARDWARE USED
Cons: ugly, unprofessional
The supposedly Stainless Steel U-bolt and nylock nuts are now painted with a crappy black paint coating that is 10- 20% scratched off before product even arrived, and more scratches off during installation.
It looks like crap and I won't put it on my bike. Hideous!

MULTI USE FOR RAM MOUNT

Now I can use my GPS on my road bike, motorcycle and in my car with this simple U-Bolt. Great device.

STRONG AND EASY TO INSTALL

I have mounted this on both my cross and MTB with 31.8 and 26.0 bars... both with a perfect fit. Great job RAM!

RAM MOUNT BASE

POWDER COATED TO LAST?
Pros: strength, stability
Cons: powder coat
Love the mount, but when I was attaching the nuts, the paint kept scraping off of the black parts. Now it looks a bit messy, and the paint keeps flaking off. Still, function over form, which is why this product still gets a 4/5. This mount holds my GPS extremely securely to my bicycle for those long rides in the unfamiliar country. And the service from expressmounts couldn't be better.

So far so good. No vibration issues with GPS while riding motorcycle. Nice option to include both U-bolt sizes.

FLEXIBLE MOUNT
Pros: great flexibility
Cons: doesn't look to great, but it works.
Good Mount. Very flexible in mounting position. Far, far better than the RAM-B-309 mount which is very susceptible to breaking and has limited orientation.
