RAM LOCKING SUCTION BASE
This is just what I needed and works great. I like the fact that it works with the rest of the ram mounts I have.

PERFECT FOR MY SAILBOAT
Pros: small size but powerful holding action Cons: none. it just works!
I bought the RAM Mount locking suction base to fasten my hand-held GPS to the centerboard trunk on my small sailboat. The small diameter of the base fits perfectly but even still it holds with a lot of force. It has never come loose on it's own, but is easily removable when unlocked.

LOCKING SUCTION CUP BASE
Pros: best cup base to be found Cons: none
This is one of the best products designed by RAM. The cup holds like a rock if the surface and cup are clean. I did not test it to failure but I think the ball would break off before the suction cup would release.

SHAKE WITH ENGINE VIBRATION
The rubber based suction cup (instead of silicon based that I had from another brand) will cause more vibration when mounted with camcorder. If you have a Sony anti-shake, that's fine. I got a Canon HF-11 HD camcorder, it causes blur when mount on the piston aircraft windshield.
