RAM STEM MOUNT
Pros: simple Cons: wiggles too much and can't be tightend enough.
This mount works great in theory, but in reality it doesn't. I followed the instructions and it installed very easy. The only problem is that you can't tighten the allen screw provided tight enough to get the rubber to expand enough to keep the mount from wiggling around. I tightened it as far as I dare before allen screw head started to strip out. It works and holds pretty well. I don't think it will fall out and it is difficult to pull out of the stem but it wiggles around too much for me.

ASSEMBLY CREEPS OUT OF FORK, NOT SECURE
Pros: innovative solution Cons: unstable, not secure, requires attention over time
While this is an innovative way to attach another mount, it has proven a disappointment, unfortunately. It continually creeps up out of the fork and too easily turns side to side. Find some other way to mount your GPS.

WORKS GREAT!
Pros: works great, as advertised. Cons: some assembly required.
Works great! What more is there to say. I use this mount to hold my big heavy Garmin 2610 GPS and it works well. I didn't know there would be some assembly required but that's to be expected when it's a one-size-fits-all application that can be used on different size steering stems. It was easy to size and assemble for my ST1300 and I'm very happy with it.

2002 GSX-R 750-FORK STEM BASE BROKE-GREAT WARRANTY
Pros: warranty. with my custom mod it is more trustworth Cons: broke
I ordered this along with -Garmin nuvi 200W 465T Cradle RAM-HOL-GA25U -Plastic Short Arm B-Socket RAP-B-201U-A -Diamond Plate with 1 inch Ball RAM-B-238U and they fit together perfectly. The stem base comes with a rubber cork that goes into the stem base and when you tighten it, it is supposed to snug itself in the fork tube so that it wont move. It does this but not as snug as I'd like it to be. The other day I was riding down the road and it got a little rough and the fork stem base broke!! I barely caught my $300 GPS and maintained control.I came to the conclusion that it was a factory defect and I called GPS City and they sent me a new one free with a prepaid shipping label and I sent the broke one back with the package the new one came in. I would advise filling the hollow stem that the ball sits on with quik steel or gorilla glue, and then screwing in an appropriet sized screw for extra re-assurance when you install product on your bike or vehicle.

MOUNT: OK SERVICE FROM GPSCITY: GREAT!
First mount received was poorly cast the ball broke free of the plate with little effort, and GPSCity sent out a replacement without fuss.
Mount works well when instructions are followed, however an improvement would be for RAM to re-shape the tapered plug. At the widest available point the initial fit wasn't "close", it was very loose in the 2007 Honda VFR I was installing in. Ideal fit for any expansion plug application IMO is to be a near-interference fit upon installation, with moderate grip after 1 or 2 turns of the clamping screw. Approximately a dozen full turns were required for initial grip closer to 20 before I was satisfied that it would stay put.

RAM MOUNT MOTORCYCLE FORK STEM BASE WITH 1 INCH BA
Cons: gets loose with the vibration of the bike.
The design is good. I followed the instuctions and was able to mount it to my bike correctly. It was so secure that I was almost able to lift my bike via the mount. What was not very good is that the screw to get it tight enough got warped. After a couple of rides the mount got lose and that has to do with the vibrtation of the bike. I had to replace the screw to reuse the mount and the next time I used locktight and now it holds without getting loose any more and works well.

Cons: none
Very simple and tidy system. Unfortunately i have a BMW 1300s, the yoke on the bike has a small threaded shaft so the system itself was too large to fit. I simply drilled the a hole large enough in the ball mount and put a bolt in. But the initial idea is brill. BMW always makes it difficult.

BARELY FITS FOR '08 HONDA CBR1000RR
Pros: at least i can have a stem mount! Cons: requires some ingenuity and patience to install.
In order to make this stem mount fit into the fork stem, I had to completely cut off the lower, cone shaped section of the mount, and then carefully shave off the round, top section to snugly fit inside the fork stem. Yes, it works but you'll see that the installation instructions for this unit are useless / don't apply for this particular model of motorcycle. The only way it works is to cut off the bottom 2/3rds of the mount and then shave off the edges of the top, round part to make it fit. It's the only one on the market currently for the '08 CBR1000rr's (I was looking for over a year).

NOT VERY DURABLE.
At first the mount seemed to be just fine, It kept getting loose. I would tighten and it would hold for a while. Later the nut pulled through the plastic gripper. I replaced it with a metal washer and it stays in the stem, but it rotates freely. I'm looking for a more secure mount. I want to use the stem hole. I just need to keep looking.

NICE STEM MOUNT
Used this on a Triumph 675 motorcycle, mounted in the steering tube. Instructions were spot on, took about two minutes to install.
I then subsequently mounted a two inch ram connector and a RAM 2 x 3 plate with a 1" ball. I put velcro on the 2 x 3 plate and on the base of my Escort 9500ix radar detector. The whole setup sits nicely behind my screen and is easy to remove, except the Stem Base, when I park.

GREAT PRODUCT!
Pros: everything Cons: none
To be honest I was a bit skeptical before ordering this item after reading some negative reviews. Shipping was unbelievable fast. 1 day. After watching the video it took me 10 minutes to install the unit on my 2010 GSXR 600. Perfect fitting. Perfect results. No issues whatsoever in terms of lose fitting as I read on other reviews. I'm not sure what they did wrong but you should not have any issues installing it. I used a regular/single allen key with a pipe wrench to tighten the screw (after a few turns there's no way you can twist the allen key with your bare hands). Fitting is nice and tight. Very happy with the RAM mount!

The ball was broke on delivery. How can this product hold up on the road, if it can't handle USPS? Also, the powder coat is peeling. Awesome concept, but I think you will need to go another route. ALRIGHT FOR THE PRICE
Pros: cheap, does what it is supposed to do Cons: doesn't fit in some bikes without some extra work
Considering it was only $17, I don't have much of an issue with it. Purchased this for use with my '96 Honda VFR. Says that it's compatible. But the only way it was able to work was for me to wittle down the rubber stem to a size that would actually fit in the bike. Turned what should have been a 15 minute install into a 2 hour long project. My concern now is that it is not as tight or snug as I feel it should be. It will turn without much resistance, but I don't feel like it will be an issue. Took for a 5 hr ride the other day and it hasn't moved yet.
Looks to be a good product so far. Unfortunatly it took an extra effort to get installed.

I am not happy with this product at all, and surprised by the decent reviews. While the design is a nice concept, the low grade aluminum used caused a failure shortly after installation. EXCELLENT STEM MOUNT SOLUTION
Pros: universal fit, ease of instal, non-marring
Don't let the computer graphic fool you, this is a real product, and its well designed for a universal fit solution. This enables you to mount just about any Ram Mount socket to this ball. It doesn't move around, so the mounts are rock solid, and you don't need to worry about a magnetic mount getting knocked loose, or a clamp-on scratching your chrome or paint.

WORKS WITH SOME FIDDLING
Pros: best way to attach a gps to my ducati Cons: wimpy screw stripped while trying to tighten
Bought this for my Ducati 900ss. It fit into the handlebar perfect but the rubber is quite hard, too hard for the screw to handle as it stripped. Off to Home Depot for another, more solid, screw. I used a bit of silicone on the rubber before tightening it and it worked out perfect after the silicone hardened. The base rotates a bit when I attach my gps, a Magellan Triton 500, but there is no movement while riding despite the vibration or rough roads I encounter.
Anyone purchasing this item might want to replace the wimpy screw but otherwise it works as intended.

CLOSE TO PERFECT
Pros: great use of existing hole. Cons: none, other than mentioned on installation
I have a CBR1000RR and this unit really did not work on my bike as supplied. The tapered cone expansion material supplied was not quite large enough. So off to Ace Hardware for some rubber stoppers. I was able to fabricate the needed expansion portion from a rubber stopper purchased at Ace. With that it worked as advertised. The supplied tapered cone only needed to be a couple of millimeters larger. I don't understand why they stopped at the size they did??

GREAT MOUNT
I installed this on a 2002 sv650. I did have to drill out the fork bolt hole to fit it, but the fit inside the stem is very tight and I haven't noticed any vibration.
The biggest thing on the install is making sure you get ~1 inch of rubber and semi-compress it before forcing it into the stem. This way there won't be any wiggle room.

GOOD, NOT PERFECT
Pros: no bike modifications required. Cons: vibration.
It appears to be good quality, is pretty easy to install, and is very convenient. But it does allow the GPS to vibrate quite a bit. My "solution" is to use the next size larger plastic bottom end and turn it down in diameter until it needs to be pressed into the stem. That way both upper and lower ends will be tight to the stem, and the rubber center will hold it in place.

GOOD IDEA, BUT POORLY EXECUTED.
Pros: clean and clever installation location Cons: rubber too hard, still loose after correct install
Tried to use this in the fork stem of my 2003 Honda VFR motorcycle. It was a touch too small so I ended up having to wrap some electrical tape around it to take up the slack.
Additionally, the rubber is much too hard to accomplish the task. If it was a softer rubber, it would have compressed much more easily and made a nicer fit.

HARD TO GET IT TO WORK RIGHT
Pros: easy instructions are complete and accurate Cons: hard to get a tight fit
I have to agree with some of the other posts - getting the nut to snug up the plastic "ball" inside the stem is not easy, the plastic piece at the bottom does not grab into the ball easily. I think there will always be some slop in the system - that seems to be a design function. It more or less works, but I'm still looking for a better solution. This will do until I find it.

WORKS FOR GPSR...
Pros: does not interfere with tucking in Cons: rotates when bumped, prone to vibrations
I bought this to mount either my handheld GPSr or my digital cam to my Hayabusa. Although, I love it for the GPSr, I would not recommend mounting a cam to it. The vibrations get fed through the stem into the assembly and anything recorded at above about 5000 RPMs is so shaky, it's worthless. The mount also rotates when bumped. However, it won't pull out, so this is a minor incovenience.

NICE ALTERNATIVE TO HANDLE BAR CLAMPS.
Pros: provides a mounting point in a great location. Cons: rubber expander should be softer.
I mounted the Fork Stem Base on my '04 GSXR 600. As others have mentioned, the included rubber expansion is made from a harder than expected rubber. I heated it in hot water to soften it up a bit just before tightening it down. The mount still spins if pushed, but is held secure from pulling out. I would prefer a much softer material. This mount does provide a better mounting location for my MP3 player in the small aqua box than any other mount for sport bikes.

COULD BE BETTER
I bought this mount for my '06 Interceptor, and had the same problem that Kevin mentioned. I had to modify the top of the expansion plug to fit into the steering stem, so most of the expansion plug material was tossed out. Even after whittling the top (non-tapered) section to make my own expansion plug, the material is snug, but not tight inside the tube, allowing the base to turn if it's pushed. I really like the concept, but wish the plug's taper was extended all the way to the top.

GREAT MOUNTING LOCATION, BUT ....
I have a motorcycle tour and rental business all our bikes have Zumo 450s. I did not like the mount that came with the Zumo - it mounts the GPS to the clutch perch and in my opinion puts the device in an awkward position. This ball mount drops right into the steering tube and puts the Zumo right in the perfect location, but needed a LOT of modifications.
The rubber expansion joint wasn't big enough in diameter (JUST barely big enough I should say), after cranking down on the compression nut to make it a big bigger-around.
The mount needs to come with better expansion joints - more sizes and better hardware. The plastic base for the mount that grabs the expansion joint (from the bottom) and holds the nut, is cheap. It will cause the nut to pull right through the piece if you have to crank down on the mounting bolt with a lot of force (which I did, to ensure the mount did not spin around).
I think the location is great, but I need to do a lot of work to them with my own expansion joints, before Spring.
