The RAM High Strength SHORT Plastic Rail Mount consists of the 1" dia. ball and socket with button system and RAM Universal Small Side Clamping Plastic Cradle.
BASE DESIGN:
The High Strength Plastic Rail Base has a 1.0 inch diameter Rubber Ball designed to sit at right angles to the mounting rail. The Rail 'U' Clamp will fit a circular rail with diameter up to 1.0 inch.
For a larger rail, you can purchase the RAM-B-231Z Aluminum Rail Base with Zinc Coated U-Bolt for circular rails with diameter from 1/2 to 1 3/8 inches.
NOTE: Placing a rubber lining (not included) between the tube and the mount for a tube with a diameter less than 1.0 inch will help the base 'grab' the rail.
IMPORTANT NOTE FOR MOTORCYCLES USES:
This base is NOT recommended for Motorcycles due to the heavy vibration. An alternative would be the RAM-B-231 Stainless Steel U-Bolt Base and the RAM-B-149 Stainless Steel U-Bolt System.
ARM DESIGN:
The High Strength Plastic SHORT Length Single Socket Arm is 1.75" long when measured from socket center to button socket end.
CRADLE DESIGN:
 The RAM-HOL-UN1 Small RAM Plastic Side Clamping Cradle is designed to hold a large amount of different kinds of cell phones and electronic devices.
Using the Cradle:
This cradle has padded locking side clamps that close tightly on the item you want to hold. To release the clamp hold, simply press the button found at the bottom left side of the cradle which will spring the clamps open. At the base of the cradle are two small supports to hold the bottom of the item securely in the cradle. This RAM universal side clamping cradle is designed to be used in a closed cabin, low vibration environment. This system is not recommended as a motorcycle mount.
