SECURE-N-MOUNT
Pros: keepers are well padded & better than hooked ones. Cons: large knob is tight against dashboard
Very nice product, Keeps the base locked and secured. Recommend that you flip tray over as knob is big and tight against dashboard.

IT LOOKED GOOD ON THE WEB PAGE
This seemed like a decent way to "lock" my Toughbook down on the RAM desk. I had been using a standard RAM desk for 3 or 4 years with a slim Gateway notebook, so I knew I would need to upgrade the side brackets. While discussing this with a store representative on the phone, she suggested this kit. It sounded and looked better than a mere cable lock, so I added it to the order.
Well, I spent a couple hours getting the parts to fit and making do with some missing washers, and I mounted it on the pedestal last night. All looked good, except the locking knob only worked in one direction (to tighten the lock), but not in reverse. I needed to manually pull the slide open in order to remove the Toughbook. OK, I could put up with this, since it looks like it's secure.
This morning, however, while driving to the office, the main spring rattled and bumped against the large metal tube, making a constant noise that was intolerable. I would never be able to hear my two-radios over the rattling!
Tonight I am taking all of this off and restoring the old spring, which still requires a wad of tissue for dampening, but remains quiet after this little fix. The side brackets work just fine (a separate item on my order), so I will be keeping them, However, I'm disappointed that the locking system isn't what it should be, and even if that worked, the rattling spring problem needs a thin plastic flexible tube around it to keep the driver sane.
