I use a garmin 60csx gps with this short arm RAM. This mount is very sturdy. I 4 wheel in harsh conditions and this mount has never let me down.

FUNCTIONAL CONNECTOR
Pros: will function and work ok.
Cons: doesn't have a spring to control the opening.
This part will make the connections you need. The finish isn't as nice as sockets I have from previous years but better than some of the other parts I received on this mounting system I'm putting together.

ANOTHER QUALITY PRODUCT BY THE RAM COMPANY.
Pros: provides adjustment for an exact placement.
Cons: none!
I choose this short arm to mount my GPS above the instrument panel on my Suzuki VStrom DL650. It is the perfect size and clamps tight to hold the GPS securely in place during all driving conditions. Its design allows for adjustments to the height of the GPS to place it exactly where you want it. The craftsmanship and quality are great.

Pros: it doesn't come loose.
Cons: restricted travel past 45 degrees.
It works very good. Each end will only allow the ball mount to swivel 45 degrees in all planes but it will swivel 90 degrees in one plane only.

Cons: handle hits set screws if used with u-channel base
I am using this in a Cessna 172. The design is poor when used with U-channel clamping base. The handle to tighten hits set screws on U-channel base. The groves need to be moved or on all four sides so the handle can be turned away from the set screws.

SHORT ARM SOCKET CONFUSION

I I purchased the 1 1/2" short arm B-Socket from GPSCity for a recently ordered Garmin Zumo 550 I ordered from Amazon. The salesman was very helpful and the part of a very good quality however, I was told that the Garmin unit came with a 3" Socket. Having heard that, and not yet receiving the Zumo from amazon, I ordered the 1 1/2" Socket, so that I would have both lengths available. When I received the Garmin unit, I discovered that it actually came equipped with a 1 1/2" arm socket. As a result, I now have two 1 1/2" arm sockets, and would prefer to have one 1 1/2" and one 3" arm sockets.
Because of the relative low cost of the unit, I am hesitant about paying for return shipping and asking GPSCity to ship a 3" arm socket out to me.
Recommend? NO OPINION

The RAM-Mount products worked well. Very fast shipping which was great. However, my only complaint was that GPS City shipped loose RAM-Mount parts without putting them in small plastic bags first and the parts banged into each other and some had chips in the powder coat by the time they arrived. I wasn't happy about this.

Was excited to receive this Short Arm B Socket. However when I received it the aluminum casting was defective. It had voids in it. Not sure if it will shorten the live span of the part. Not worth getting a replacement as they make you pay the postage back. Wish someone would look over the parts prior to shipping.

My first purchase was the 3 inch mounting arm for my GPS. I found it set it a little higer than I wanted and put it higher than the fairing on my Harley. The short arm is perfect, more in my line of sight, and allows it to be more protected by the fairing.

Cons: no spring between halves (very very minor con)
Short arm made for a better setup in my car, where I use a suction cup mount on a plate attached to the top of my dashboard. Despite what the dimensions say, in practice the arm feels about 1/2 as long as the longer arm. There's no spring between the halves, but this has not made adjustments any more difficult. Typical RAM A++ quality.

GREAT LITTLE ARM.
Pros: aluminum construction
Cons: none.
This was exactly what I needed to complete my installation. I opted for the aluminum version instead of the less expensive plastic model, and would recommend it to anyone.

SHORT ARM B-SOCKET
Pros: holds things nicely
Cons: could use a slight redesign
This shorter arm works well for my motorcycle. My bike is old and vibrates a lot. The shorter arm keeps my held items nice and steady.

GREAT ADDITION TO MY MOUNTING HARDWARE
I already have the long arm for my gps mount. Got the shorty for the drink holder. Works great!!! Now I can look for more items to put on my ultra.

SHORT ARM B- SOCKET
Item has been mounted, appears to be capable of doing what it was intended for. Perhaps the only fault might be the wing nut is too large! Appears too bulky. Not a big problem!!

PART OF AN EXTENSIVE SYSTEM

A solid, durable part. It would be nice if it had the spring like the longer arms to keep it attached to one ball, however the shorter length prevents this. No big deal though, it works very well.

RAM SHORT ARM WORKED FOR MY PURPOSE
Pros: positioned the gps where i wanted it.
I used this short arm with the GPS City friction dash mount and the B-Ball Suction cup mount. The short arm kept the GPS unit low on the dash.

WORKS AS DESIGNED
Pros: well constructed
I have a couple of arms for different bikes - this one is perfect for mounting on the Concours off the left switch housing. It also works pretty well with the stem mount on my Moto Guzzi Norge.

Originally ordered the medium length arm but found it to be too long, putting GPS in front of other guages on my FLTR Road Glide. Short arm works great, puts GPS in perfect location for sight and manipulation.

SHORT ARM MOUNT
Pros: aluminum, holing power
The short arm mount that came with my original mounting bracket was made from a plastic. It lasted approximatly two years before it broke. I believe that since the new part is made from aluminum it will be the last one I will ever have to buy. It fit perfectly and holds my gps unit in place better less slippage. I was also pleasantly surprised to find a new bolt and wing nut came with it.

USE THIS FOR NO VIBRATION

My 7xx mounting system for my Garmin came with a standard 3" socket arm. I bought this shorter arm in additional to the stock system. I never installed the long arm I had read that it shakes.
This short arm was solid as a rock. I used it on a 3 week trip thru Washington, Oregon and Northern California, mostly on back roads. We rode gravel, potholes and bumps.
The GPS unit did not move!

I am very pleased with the operation of this item. I used it to mount a Garmin GPS to a large Harley-Davidson and was amazed at the ease of the installation. The RAM mount short length dual 1.0 inch socket arm has been a crucial factor in keeping the GPS unit secure and vibration free.

Pros: reduced virations.
This 1" arm replace the 3" arm that stood too tall and caused vibrations for my GPS. The shorter length reduced the vibrations and made for a neater looking package.
