| RAM Mount Steel U-Bolt Rail Base with Extension Plate Assembly Description |
The RAM Marine Grade Aluminum Mount with Stainless Steel U-Bolt Rail Base consists of the 1'' dia. ball and socket system with RAM Universal Extension Plate. This mount is designed to be a universal mounting solution for both RAM and non-RAM designed products. The hole pattern found on the Extension Plate will connect to a large variety of third party cradles and mounts.
BASE DESIGN:
 The RAM-B-231 RAM Mount Powder Coated Marine Grade Aluminum Rail Base has a 1.0 inch diameter Rubber Ball designed to sit at right angles to the mounting rail. The Stainless Steel U-Bolt and nuts included are designed it fit on most motorcycle round handlebars, or any circular rail or pipe with diameter from 3/4 to 1.0 inch.
To mount the rail base, place the top of the base on the rail and then slide the u-bolt around the rail, into the holes in the base top. Now tighten the screws onto the u-bolt until the base is clamped firmly. If you desire, you can now slot the black rubber covers over the exposed ends of the u-bolt.
NOTE: This base is completely rust proof.
For Larger Rail Mounting:
For a larger rail, you can purchase the RAM Mount Stainless Steel Large Rail U-Bolt for circular rails with diameter up to 1.25 inches.
ARM DESIGN:
The Powder Coated Marine Grade Aluminum Standard Length Double Socket Arm is 3.0'' long when measured between socket centers.
EXTENSION PLATE DESIGN:
 The RAM-B-125B Marine Grade Aluminum Extension Plate with 1 inch Rubber Ball allows you to maneuver your GPS unit, or any connected device, in more positions than the standard mounting plate. Originally designed to position your GPS in front of the yoke on your plane, the extension plate can also be used in many other applications.
The end of the plate is 2.5 inches square with predrilled holes for many different screw hole patterns, including the universal AMPS hole pattern and all RAM made cradles. The plate extends approximately 2.25 inches forward, at a 45 degree angle, from the center of the 1 inch ball and approximately 1.5 inches above the 1 inch ball (to the bottom of the connection section of the plate).
