| SPOT Satellite GPS Messenger Description |
With the SPOT Satellite Messenger, you and your loved ones have peace of mind knowing help is always within reach. SPOT is the only device of its kind, using the GPS satellite network to acquire its coordinates, and then sending its location - with a link to Google Maps - and a pre-programmed message via a commercial satellite network. And unlike Personal Locator Beacons, SPOT does more than just call for help. Tracking your progress, checking in with loved ones, and non-emergency assistance are also available, all at the push of a button. And because it uses 100% satellite technology, SPOT works around the world - even where cell phones don't.
SPOT Satellite Tracker Main Functions:
Check-in with SPOT - Let your family, friends, and CoWorkers know you're okay, or just save your location for future viewing on the SPOT web service. This feature is great for marking a favorite location or letting your loved ones know you are running late. Your saved contacts are able to get a text message with your current GPS location and or an email with a link to Google maps to view the position on high resolution satellite images. Check-in can be used to let your boss know you are all right when you are working alone in the field. You no longer have to drive to a location with cellular coverage. Any where within the Globalstar satellite footprint you can send your Check-in message. No more phone calls to office to let them know you are okay, just one button press.
SPOT Track Progress - Track your progress around the world. Simply by holding the Check-in button down for 5 seconds or more to put the SPOT satellite tracker into track mode. Now a update will be sent every ten minutes for you to review when you get back to your computer with internet access. You can provide your boss, friends or family with a SPOT login to your account, so they can see the progress of your voyage. You can export the collected track data in KML (Google format) or GPX (General GPS format) to be viewed in external GPS mapping programs.
Help! from Family and Friends - Sometimes you need a little help but you don't need the emergency services dispatch. For those non life-threatening emergencies you can use the "HELP" button to send your request for assistance to friends, family, and co-workers. They will immediately know where you are to come give you a hand in your current situation. When activated, the SPOT will send your position every 5 minutes for one hour or until you cancel the "HELP" option.
Help! with Roadside Assistance - Using the SPOT help feature you can get Roadside assistance if you are close to a mapped road. SPOT Assist's roadside service will offer 24/7 roadside assistance in the United States and Canada in Spring 2009. Using your national roadside assistance provider the SPOT will pinpoint your location for the service provider to ensure quick service when you are stuck by the road. No more guessing where you are and then trying to translate that location to the roadside assistance provider. They will find you with pin point accuracy.
911 - Press and hold the 9-1-1 button to alert emergency responders of life-threatening events. The GEOS Emergency Response Center will work with public response agencies around the world, and call your emergency contacts to find out more about your situation and keep them informed of rescue progress. GEOS works with all rescue agencies from the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center and Coast Guard to local urban and rural 9-1-1 call centers. Optionally, GEOS will also dispatch private rescue agencies in those countries where public resources won't do. 911 sends a message and location update every 5 minutes until canceled.

GREAT service, from the moment that I placed the order - I knew that you had received it, and when my item would ship - it even arrived sooner than I expected. You have fabulous prices on both merchandise and shipping, and I will definitely be back... thanks! karla, Feb 9/12 |
Everytime I order something from gpscity.com its arrives the next day, well boxed. GPS City has the best prices, the best inventory, and I ust say I quite enjoy their reviews! Best place to shop for gps stuff TC, Feb 9/12 |
competitive pricing, good site, easy navigation, no redundant processes, shipping info up front, and low cost ship charge is always appreciated Greg B. MA, Feb 7/12 |
could not locate the item online, one phone call to your company gave me the part / order number and I had it delivered within 4 days. Great service Ken, Feb 7/12 |
Nice price. EXCELLENT shipping cost and policy. I leave MANY sites because a) shipping cost is offensive (Garmin wanted $8 to ship a tiny card!), or b) I can't even find what they charge without entering my address, VISA card number, life history, etc. Thanks. I remember. Frank Frank C. MN, Feb 6/12 |
