IF YOU HAVE NEVER USED A GPS YOU WILL LIKE THIS ON

Pros: gives you something to do in the bathroom.
Cons: a waste of money

If you have never used a GPS you will like this one. If you have then don't waist your time on the Tom Tom Rider. It couldn't couldn't find anything that I needed and I mean things like the Buffalo Chip. It says things like. Turn right on street. What street. Anyone who has used a Garmin will get a laugh out of that one. This GPS might be worth a $100 but you will want to have a map and a phone book with you just incase. Stick with a Zumo. They don't even compare. Best thing I can say i, sounds like they are off the market.

TOMTOM RIDER JUNK

Pros: none
Cons: junk, see above

Screen is totally invisible during the daylight hours unless cloudy. Works in the Car OK as long as it is screened so light will hot hit the front. Wearless headset is junk. If you already have a Headset installed it is hard to install a second one for bluetooth. Can't hear the commands via bluetooth headset even with volume tuned up ..

Total waste of money for the Rider.

Other TOMTOM auto units work 1000% better, just wish they were waterproof.

Find a GARMIN 2610 Referb unit. It will be better than this thing.

SIMPLY TERRIBLE

Pros: can't think of any
Cons: see above

This is my third GPS, two previous Garmins and an earlier Tom Tom. I use it primerily my motorcycle. 1. It can not be used in a car unless you purchase an accessory which cost around $100 extra. It works barely adequately once you get the car adapter, but not as good as Tom Tom's own car units which sell for less than $200.

I now have about 8000 miles on the motorcycle with the unit. It would be an understatement to say that it is clear that no one who has ever riden a bike had any involvement with its design. The word "abysmal" comes to mind, but worthless may better describe it.

The screen is bright enough to be read at night, but close to completely illegible in daylight. Most of the data is too small to be read on a moving bike under the best of circumstances, but completely invisable in daylight.

I find it inconceivable that this is a version "2" of the product. That implies that they had previously made a worse one at one time. I find that hard to imagine.

I am giving the unit away to a friend who is unlikely to use it for his bike, eating the loss and buying a Garmin.

HALF PRICE ON AMAZON.CA

Another purchase that does not work right out of the box. The charger unit that is. I also found the same unit on Amazon.ca for alomost half price. The GPS unit has a slow response time and is not as accurate as a Garmin.

TOMTOM RIDER 2

Pros: easy to read and hear, easy setup
Cons: none that i've found

So far I think it's great! I'm still learning the different functions, but it's done everything it claimed.

TOMTOM RIDER 2ND EDITION

Purchased last night and looking forward to first ride. Bluetooth synch with IPhone took several attempts, but finally got it to work. Installed the bluetooth headset on half helmet with no problems. I tried to purchase the device from several internet providers, but ended up buying from Best Buy because they were out of stock.

TOM TOM RIDER 2 SECOND EDITON REVIEW

Purchased about 2 weeks ago. Screen and maps are very clear and easy to read and navigate with colours. Voice directions is clear. Bluetooth headset is not made by tom tom, but it is top of line. PC software is not working and waiting for their downloads on tom tom website as product is so new on the market. This price shown is way below the suggested listing prices and has better extended warrenty here. Suggested list price shown is accurate as I have seen other sites listing for $760 Cdn. range.
