Measures HR, Cadence (with PowerTap or GSC10), Power (with
PowerTap), and great overall GPS tracking. I have Canada
TOPO Maps installed which works well, although the mapping
is a little overkill... Generally never have the map view
up. I use it with Sport Tracks, although the Garmin
Training Center software isn't too bad. A must have for
competitive cyclists, or those looking to make continuous
improvements.

While leading a high-speed paceline over rough pavement on Rte 86 near Lake
Placid, NY, unit popped-off the mount and was run over by at least 2 cyclists.
The unit is toast but at least it didn't cause a crash. Mount design & hardware
are Mickey Mouse and not suitable for serious riding. Needs better mount design
or, at least should have secondary fail-safe fastening feature. After incident,
another cyclist in group who owns one voiced the same complaint...

The 705 is a great GPS. I like the virtual partner. The
screen is bright and customizable. Altitude and grade are
accurate. The wireless speed/ cadence sensor from my
Forerunner 305 works with the Edge. It comes with a heart
rate monitor. I use Garmin Connect to share and compare! I
love the Auto Pause at red lights etc... I can get a signal
in my basement with this thing. It's made my rides a lot
more fun!

I've had this unit for about 1 month now and I
love it. Excellent gadget for tracking bike
routes and training goals. Easy to customize
display information. Also great for sharing ride
data with data geeks.
