I am sure this is a great unit but after purchasing one, and returning it because it was defective, I purchased another, it was also defective. I spent over an hour on hold with tech support and then chose the call back feature. 10 hours later and no response. I am taking it back for good. What a waste of my time!

I hate to hear the bad luck the other dude had. I can say I have had really good luck my 400. I was looking for a GPS packed with features (including Geo Cache storage) and I didnt want a color screen. Well I found it and for the price you can beat it. If I had to say anything bad it would be the Battery is a little pricey.

I am completely dissatisfied with my (brief) experience as the owner of an Explorist 400. Putting the out of date and completely inadequate user manuals aside, two weeks into using the unit it spontaneously deleted all of my marked points. No one at Magellan tech support can explain why, and after two weeks of listening to their hold music, being transferred to the wrong department, waiting for return phone calls that never come I'm giving up. I will never buy anything else from Magellan again and I strongly suggest that you don't either.
