First off, this will NOT work with MapMyRide/Run/whatever.
If that is your preferred app, look elsewhere. Most of the
apps it does work with require purchasing them to get the
full functionality. DigiFit works really well with it
though.
Second, the form factor of the device makes it impossible to
use with a case or bumper with a normal sized hole for the
dock connector. I had to hack the crap outta the bottom of a
bumper to make it fit.
Lastly, have an RMA for this product because it seems to
lose physical connectivity with the iPhone. Truth be told, I
would much rather try a different product.

I bought this on impulse, and have yet to really take
advantage of having it. I have found a few iPhone apps that
support it, and I believe the key for me is to find the right
app for my needs.

It's a great accessory for the iPhone when used in
combination with Garmin App & ANT+ accessories. I have used
it with the HR strap and the speed/cadence sensor and both
work flawlessly. The only issue is that I can't use my
iPhone case with it, but that's only an extremely minor
inconvenience.

I ordered this item to track my indoor exercises during the
winter months, using my iPod Touch. It works fine. I was
able to pair it with my Garmin Heart Beat Monitor and Foot
Pod in a matter of seconds.
And, though it says "For iPhone", I use it with my iPod
Touch (4th generation) and it works fine. Since I'm using
it indoor, I don't care about mapping my tracks. I suspect
Garmin says for iPhone only because the iPod Touch doesn't
have a GPS (my guess).
This device is used with Garmin Fit app. This app lets you
record your stats (max beats, min beats, avergage, distance,
steps per minutes, pace, etc.) and if you care to open a
free Garmin Connect account, all your data is uploaded on
the said website. From there you get many tools to track
your progress. You can also extract the data in a TCX or
GPX track to later import it in your favorite desktop app.
In my case, Rubitrack for Mac.
The way I see this, it lets me carry only one device on me
at the gym. My iPod for the music and logging my exercises.
No watch. Just the iPod. That's great !
