We bought two of these - one for a deal 760 (7") and one for a nuvi 2577 (5"). This stand works well on both of them and hasn't fallen over or slid from where we put it.
The underside is a slightly tacky material that doesn't stick to the dash but does add extra friction.
It works better than the beanbag style mounts we've used in the past because there is no need for the suction cup that always seems to come loose on those. The GPS clips directly on the ball of this mount.

The mount has worked as extremely well. It has adhered to several surfaces and has not slid from placement. The slope of my car dashboard is quite severe and even on rough roads the mount has held true.
The height of the mount is enough to help protect the cord to the Nuvi from bending, thus preventing premature wear as in the past.

This works perfect if you don't want your GPS mounted with a suction cup on the window. I use this in lieu of the window mount so I can set the GPS on the seat when I leave the car. Don't want to advertise to crooks that I have a GPS!

I recently purchased a Garmin GPS unit, and subsequently made a trip to San Antonio (about a 450 mile round trip from my Texas home). I used this product to hold the Garmin on the dash of my 2005 Chevy Tahoe. It worked like a charm, and kept my Garmin GP:S in place with NO sliding around on the rear-sloped dashboard. Very pleased with my purchase!
