Do not purchase Map Create if you have Windows Vista or any Vista version. Lowrance Map Create is not compatable and has not plans to update.

Review: I would not purchase this software if you plan to use it with a GPS enabled fishfinder. The detail of the map is horrible. Some bodies of water do not even resemble the lake. Lowrance needs to step op their game on this software. Compared to the detail of a handheld like Magellin's Mapsend topo software its like comparing a 2yr olds book report to a 5th yr grad students thesis. I am giving them another 12 months to make major changes in the software and if not I am tossing my Lowrance units and buy someone else's with decent map software.

My first reaction to this software is pretty disappointing. I was hoping to use this software to create maps for New Hampshire lakes. The resolution of the maps is pretty poor, and there are NO navigation aids for any of the lakes. Lake Winnipesaukee has 850 buoys and over 600 "significant" rocks (and millions others). These maps have no buoys, depth contours, nothing for boating. They make you jump through incredible hoops in the name of protecting the cartography. Lowrance, there's 10x better cartography on Google than your software. There's nothing to protect! I was especially shocked how old the street map is. My development is about 18 years old. It doesn't appear in the map. Nor do some major state highways! I would classify this as junk at the moment. Lowrance needs some new software developers and need to come up to speed fast.
