I have also used iGuidance and Streets and Trips. I was intrigued by all the highly rated garmin products so went with the 20x for my netbook. I expected better graphics and am disappointed. They are just adequate for the area I work in, outskirts of Calgary AB. The graphics for the University campus are poor as well so I expect I'll find other shortcomings. The residential area where I live is very good. I have to keep the Garmin 20X, I don't have a return option otherwise I would be exchanging it. I am exchanging my netbook for a higher quality and slightly bigger one so I am hoping that will improve the brightness. My netbook is difficult to see when it's bright out so I'm considering swapping it, I do have the option.

This product met my expectations in all respects except for the occasional time when the software suddenly ceases to function and has to be closed and reopened. I like the ease of use and the accuracy.

The product works fine and the user screens are well done, but - the cable seems too short for easy mobile use (add a USB extension) - the GPS20x is not NMEA format, so to use it with other NMEA programs you have to find and use Garmin's Spanner.exe to translate to NMEA and send it to a "virtual" COM port(s)(neat idea) - if you buy Mobile PC with the GPS20x, you can't use other GPS's (but no unlock key is required) - if you buy Mobile PC without the GPS, NMEA units should work fine (software unlock key is needed?)

GPS 20x is a good GPS unit. The Mobile PC software leaves something to be desired. It is essentially handheld software on a laptop. The options that were available on n'Route are not in this software. Things like repeat prompt using space-bar, or setting level of prompts are not available in Mobile PC. For n'Route users like myself, this will be a disappointment.

The Garmin software is exceptionally easy to use and the GPS receiver works very well, even indoors. The maps are a little out of date and if you drive on roads that the software does not recognize it goes berserk and eventually locks up the computer (Vista). It also has no "pause" option so deviations from the route get you whined at by the software. It needs a Pause and Resume button (F Function key?) that allows you to stop the software and then resume it when you get back to its expected route. It is, however, generally accurate if the do what it wants you to do.
