I recently returned from a long road trip in South Africa. I
was surprised by the positive performance of this product.
It was a godsend for easily finding B&Bs and other sometimes
obscure addresses. The only cons for me were 1. The
understandable difficulty it had in adjusting to the many
detours and roadwork changes presently going on in SA (use a
map along with the gps for distant destination settings) and
2. The inaccurate American pronunciations of many of the
street names etc. (not too serious a problem, given the fact
that the names appear on the GPS screen)

Rather buy the real South african maps from Garmap.co.za
It's excellent. Tons more detail than City Navigator NT

The chip worked very well in South Africa, But the day we
loaded the chip it stated that we needed to up grade with
the newer version of the chip. We used the old chip and
hoped that roads had not changed much in the past 2 years.
