The map is an image (or a scan) of the 1:50k paper map. When you zoom in you get more details, but when you zoom a bit more you get a very blurred useless map. Image of details are just getting bigger and bigger, it is not adjusted like most gps map. When the provided POI appears on the map on the GPS screen, the map behind is so blurry you have no clue where you are. Map is routable on the road only. The walking trails are not. For example, the Southwest Coast Path in Cornwall is displayed on the map, but it is an overlay on the scanned map, absolutely not routable. When you move the cursor the GPS do not give you altitude, or any detail of the object on the map like name of river or lake etc., only some roads have names. For the price I was expected something like the 1:24k topo series from the US. This map maybe good for cycling but certainly not for hiking. I am extremely disappointed with that map.
