Recent reviews for this item: CalgarySE, February 9, 2013 Heard Garmin was the best, but you wouldn't know it based on this model. The routes it selects here in my City are strange and it would have you go on and off an overpass rather than straight down the road in one location. As others have noted the unit has limited volume. A TomTom will let you know if a favorite you're looking for is within 10 miles of your location, but you have to somehow program this into the Garmin.
I do like the fact that it records your trip information so you can download it later, the lifetime updates have been great so far, and I always use it for the live traffic information. It also gives suprisingly good estimates of travel time to the desitination. I also like the fact that the unit comes with a bracket that the power adaptor and traffic unit plugs into as you can move the unit quickly from vehicle to vehicle.
I'm still learning how to use Garmin's software "Basecamp", but from what I've seen it seems to be simple and useful. Garmin's website doesn't seem to be all that helpful as I can't even find where to order another mounting bracket. Also none of the "voices" are particularly good. Some are
