Faced with an option of buying a map for our older Magellan
or getting one already included in a new unit, we opted for
the newer Garmin. We have been touring on weekends trying
to get used to its handling of turns and roads that we are
used to before we plunge into our road trip through France
and Spain.
The unit is great to work with, very easy to understand and
quite flexible. Still have a few of the finer points to
figure out but, we will learn as we go.

Bought this item 5 days before leaving for Italy so with all
the preparations prior to departure did not have much time
to "play" with it. We used it mainly while entering and
leaving the cities and small towns where it worked extremely
well and was quick to re-configure when we made the wrong turn.
It paid for it's self in a hellish chaotic rush hour drive
through the narrow unlit traffic clogged streets of Sarno We
turned her on and she got us to our hotel in Sorrento and a
very large nerve calming drink.

Poor: map failed to open, blue screen with built in symbols
appeared for address in a town 20 mile from my home. it is
a fluke but I lost confidence in the unit. address checked
out to be legitimate by garmin hdqtrs. sent it back to gps
city for replacement. it's a good gps, nice features but
this one has a software problem.

I like the features but I wonder why they do not allow the
language translations from a previous Garmin to be used in
this model and that the battery can't be easily changed.
The battery life dropped very quickly. Voice commands are a
welcome addition. The voice is clearer for streets.
