Bought GPS Aug 2012. Had problems with street map locations immediately but then it seemed to work itself out. Didnt use again until Dec 2012,on road trip to Calif. Worked fine for 1 month, then quit. No Canadian Tire in USA. waited til we returned in Apr 2013. Didnt worry - it had a 1 year warranty. Store told us to ph Garmin Tech Assist. They helped reset on computer (which was very stressful for us being computer illiterate and 74 and 79 yrs old), said software problem, but not enough room for maps. I needed to go and buy a MicroSD (not sure abt name) or load only half the maps on it, which i did. When we bought it, it had all US and CAN maps on it. Now it only has Western CAN and US. We paid approx $150, and used it for 1 1/2 months. We previously had a Magellan and I wished we had stayed with that brand.

I bought the Nuvi 50 to replace an old Nuvi 360. I bought
the 50 because I particularly liked the posted speed limit
feature. The graphics and demonstration on the website
illustrate a speed limit sign beside the actual speed of
the vehicle. I was disappointed to find that this feature
doesn't work in Canada since the "posted speed" graphic
doesn't appear. It would also have been nice to have had a
coiled power cord included with the unit - the one supplied
works fine but I do not like a long power cord snaking
around all over the place. My Nuvi 360 has an English-
accented female navigation voice. We call her "Daphne," and
are used to her voice. The Nuvi 50 does not have a Daphne,
nor can she be downloaded from the website. More voices
would be nice. I also noticed that the Nuvi 360 has more
features e.g. MP3 player, translator and the like. That
isn't a big deal since I only use my unit for navigating
and not listening to music. However, I did like the
translation feature since I took the 360 to Europe a couple
of years ago. Overall, the 50 is a good unit, reasonably
priced. I would give it a 7 out of 10. If it had a better
power cord, working posted speed informaton graphic for
Canadian speed limits and the more voice options (female-
English accent) I would give it a 9.5 out of 10.
