I am used to map and compas, but not to GPS As I use it for the first time for walking in the forest and for hunting, I make routes with way points. The Oregon 450 is a great instrument and probably the top to fulfill my neads. It is very easy to understand and manipulate.

This is my very first handheld and I gotta say its awesome! I was looking for one I could use in my truck if needed, then use on my dirt bike in the summer and snowmobile in the winter. So far I've only used it in the truck on street view and its just like my garmin nuvi. very simple to use and easy to read. I bought a mount for the truck and one for the bike and sled which I will transfer depending on the season. I've already uploaded all the OFSC trail maps for next winter and it looks amazing! cant wait to hit the trails this year! Very good product Garmin! keep em comin! I also got the thin screen saver to protect the screen and the waterproof camo pouch which is also very cool.

This is my first handheld unit and I have another Garmin device (Zumo 550) for my motorcycle. This unit, the Oregon 450, works very well and is easy to use. The touch screen navigation is intuitive and helps a lot with navigating. I've also enjoyed using the geocaching parts of the software. The screen resolution is good and it is easy to see in all types of light.

Prior to buying this GPS we had been geocaching with our
iPhone. We decided to upgrade to a proper GPS for durability,
as well as being able to use it when travelling out of the
country. We are pleased with this GPS. It took a bit to learn
how to make it work but after some trial and error we have
figured it out. I would definitely recommend this unit.
