and will hold a lot on it. The plastic clip that holds the
tray up is plastic and broke quickly. We used Velcro
instead. My kids loved them. Traveler, June 26, 2012 I purchased this product to entertain my kids for a
cross-country trip. The mount is well-built and sturdy, and
will hold up to 10LBS, which is more than enough for our
laptop, however there is a clip that hold the tray up when
not in use, and on ours it came cracked from the factory. I
tried superglue, but it cracked again when I tried mounting
it on the bar it's supposed to sit on. In the end, we were
forced to stop at Ikea and use twine to tie back the tray
onto the frame.
While that issue was surmountable, this unit's main problem
is that there's a huge sticker on the underside of the tray
that says something to the effect of "DO NOT USE WHILE
VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, AS IT CAN CAUSE HARM OR DEATH." While
this sticker is most likely there to prevent lawsuits, etc.
My wife wouldn't suffer using it at all, should we be
involved in a wreck in all that driving.
Basically, this it comes down to this: If you have a big
vehicle, drive safely, and trust God, then this mount is for
you as your children are in good hands. If you drive a
compact car, you may want to hold out until you can afford a
large SUV or an M1 Abrams for road trips.
This mount is probably intended for surveyors, landscape
designers, or other professionals who would benefit from
having a CAD station on the go while there on site taking
measurements. For families, go with a portable DVD player
and put it on the kids lap. Ken, August 5, 2011 This is a very well made item. It is strong enough to use
like an airline tray, for eating, or laptop support or to
hold the iPad.
My only complaint is that it rattles when folded. DMA, June 17, 2011 Preformed as expected on 4K mile road trip, so pleased.
Durable enough for my needs.
