If one is looking for the best, most stable mount
available, then the RAM Mount Garmin nuvi 7xx Vehicle Floor
Mount is the one.
Your GPS will stay out of the way of airbags, making your
drive safer.
Unlike window mounts that CAN fly off in an accident and
possibly become lethal, you will never have that problem
with this mount.
Be aware that the flexible are is stiff and can require a
little muscle to make bend.
This was installed in a 2010 Ford Focus, where space is a
premimum. Also installed in a Ford Windstar and Dodge
Caravan.
Installation - undo the four nuts that hold the seat in
place, lift the seat up, place the mount over one of the
front screws (left front), lower the seat, rebolt the four
nuts after applying some light oil or dry lube, and then
bend (adjust) the mount to your liking.
Total time, about 15 to 20 minutes. No big deal!
You can also use tie wraps to secure your power cable for a
neat installation.
One other note, you can also run the power cable through
the flexible plastic tubing, but you may need to pay $2
extra, at your auto supply store for the split wire loom.
Drive safe and make the roads better for everyone.

I installed this mount in my Honda S2000. It attached to
the front end of the left seat rail of the passenger seat.
It holds the GPS (Garmin 780) in a position so that it is
visible to both people in the car. The mount does not come
with the bolts necessary to hold it to the seat rail. I
found that 1/4" carriage bolts fit in the seat rail and
hold the base very nicely. The base (the L-shaped part at
the far end from the GPS) is a very substantial piece of
steel. I used two steel fender washers between the rail and
the nut. I had to cut about 3" from the length of the rod.
It isn't hard to bend the rod to the shape you want, but it
takes a vise to hold it while you bend it. The GPS wiggles
a tiny bit since it is on the end of a long stalk, but it
isn't a problem.

While this unit isn't connected to the floor
(mounts to the seat where it is bolted to the seat
rail) it gets everything out off the line of sight
for safer driving. I have had a number of other
RAM mounts that were connected to either the air
vent or suctioned to the windshield. This one is
the best I have had!
