products are very well made Duncan, November 26, 2012 The membrane is kinda fiddly, unless you read the
perfectly-clear instructions, which I am too cool to do. I
think to make this box truly waterproof one still needs a
little silicone at the back. One note: The wire is not
quickly removed once installed, so using any other cradle
means you need access to a second wire. I haven't used this
box in summer yet so I cannot say if I will switch back to
my not-waterproof cradle.
When installing the actual GPS, expect to spend a few
minutes cutting out shapes in the foam (provided) so your
wire can protrude comfortably. Phillip, October 10, 2012 The box is very solid and well made but the lens is not so
good. The surface of the lens is wavy and highly reflexive.
I mounted a sunscreen to try an combat this but to no
avail. With either direct light on the lens or light
reflecting off of my jacket the GPS was almost impossible to
read. As a result I could safely use my GPS under overcast
skies or in shady areas. I had to return the box as
unusable for my needs. If redesigned with a flat non
reflexive lens it would be very good, but as it is i cannot
recommend this product. GPS city accepted the return
without complaint and refunded my money. nick, September 6, 2012 The box worked well on my most recent trip I have it mounted
on my motorcycle and ran through some heavy rain on the
trip. The rain had no effect on the box or my GPS, it stayed
nice and dry inside.
