I love the Ram products - how they work and the concept.
The problem is the cradle that I have for my GPS broke
during removal of my GPS (seems like that should not
happen). :)

As a reviewer stated previously, it is hard to remove the
GPS from the cradle, way too much tension and as a result,
will break after being romoved many times.
I ride a bike and each time I stop and go in a store, will
remove the GPS, so I am removing it and putting back often.
The first one lasted me about 4 months, this last one was
shipped to me on July 7th, 2011 and actually did not use it
for a week in August on a long trip, due to not having the
GPS with me at the time. In late Aug, the part you have to
press back on to release the GPS broke off just like the
last one did. If the tension was not so tight, it would not
be breaking. Be aware that to get a replacement, you must
take a pic of the broken part and the cradle and send to them.

If this cradle doesn't protect your nuvi 1690 nothing will.
It is a little stiff getting the GPS in and out it.
