I replaced my Garmin GPSMAP 76 with the newer GPSMAP 78 and ordered this cradle as the cradle for the 76 doesn't fit. This cradle has changed considerably from the older version I have. On the older version I had to insert the top of the GPS unit then spread the plastic tabs at the bottom while simultaneously inserting the bottom into the cradle.
This was something that became second nature over time. With this cradle it's much easier, just slip the bottom of the GPS unit into the cradle and push down on the top portion of the GPS unit until it slides past the rollers "locking" into position. The unit releases easily from the cradle by pulling the top of the GPS unit up and away. Even though it pops out easily I don't think it will pop out while riding. Even though this mount is functional I like the older style cradle better. It had a channel molded into the bottom of the cradle that I used to store the excess power cable.
The power cable has a right angle plug with the cable towards the bottom of the unit. With the cable tucked into the channel in the bottom of the cradle there was no way for the plug to be pulled out of the unit. Would this ever happen...I don't know. I just like the idea of the power cable being secure inside the cradle with the GPS unit. Certainly not an issue if one only uses battery power. Maybe it's not really an issue with this mount but I now secure the excess cable and right angle plug with a loop of shock cord wrapped around the entire cable/cradle/GPS. Like this I know the GPS will never pop out and the external power plug will never be pulled out of the GPS unit.

Very easy to change mount bracket with the removal of two
screws. This is mounted on my artic cat trv. Very pleased
with how it fits on the quad. Love the Ram mounts!

It adapted well to an existing ram mount that I had. I simple
removed the 2 screws on the back and transferred it to the new
mount. I now mount my GPS in my truck, or I can take it and
mount it on my quad. On the quad it is very sturdy, even
traveling on very rough ground.
