I purchased two pieces, to mount in both vehicles, and so
far I have had no issues with then. They mounted easy, and
started put. I was concerned about the floor coming off
being in the hot Florida sun, but so far...no problem.

Ram has a great concept: A GPS mount with a flexable base
that will adapt to contoured surfaces and suppose to fit
the Garmin factory GPS Holders HOWEVER,
1. RAM packaged the RAP-180G1U was various size balls, one
has the molded letter "R" and the other has the molder
letter "G" on the round well on the side of the ball. It
took me three attempts to get the correct "G" one that fits
the Garmin holder
2. The double-sided adhesive pad, used to stick the base to
a vehicle surface works until it gets warm, the adhesive
gives and the mount falls off the surface it was glued to.
3. The GPS vibrates when driving stem could have been
better engineered.
4. RAM exhibited exceptionally poor performance in
providing a potential buyer with GPS mount selection,
options, and variations on its web site however, when I
called their phone tech support staff, they were extremely
knowledgable and helpful and resolved my problem.
RAM is known for quality products however, their GPS line
could use some improvements to be acceptable.

I'd become frustrated with having my GPS nose dive on a
whim, when the suction cup mount would break loose as the
temperatures changed in the car, so when I saw these "semi-
permanent" mounts, I had to give them a try.
I purchased four of the Lil Buddy's, one for each vehicle in
our household. The first arrived quickly, while the others
were backordered. Apparently, RAM had a bad batch of Lil
Buddy's, because the ball on the first mount was too big to
attach to my either of my two Garmins (Nuvi 765 and 3790).
When the others arrived a month later, the ball was smaller,
and fit the GPS cradles perfectly. Even though I thoroughly
prepped the surface with both Goo-Gone and alcohol pads, the
adhesive let go, the first time the car got hot inside. I
replaced it with two strips of 3M trim tape (the grey stuff
with the red backing you get at auto parts stores), and it's
been stuck firmly ever since.
The flexible base is great for following slight contours in
your dash. One thing to keep in mind for placing it though -
the mount arm is a little bit shorter than the height you
get with suction cup mount that comes with the Garmin units,
so you may find you lose some clearance for adjusting the
GPS unit.
I would suggest you:
1) Don't even bother with the adhesive disk that comes with
it, and go straight to using 3M automotive trim tape.
2) Before you pull the backing off of the dash side of the
tape, attach your GPS, and make sure your planned location
will allow you to adjust your GPS to the best viewing angle.
Now that my Lil Buddy's are firmly in place, I've had no
more surprises of falling Garmin units. I'm very happy with
them, and wish I'd found them sooner!
