Decided I need flexible mount to accomodate iPhone without case, with various cases, with battery pack, offer passenger to use mount for his/her smartphone.
And I expect X-Grip to outlive current smartphone - no need to change car mount with the purchase of new smartphone.
Initially I was a bit sceptical about the grip - but no problems at all - phone is held very tight.
Suction mount is also OK, I have attached it to dashboard with Garmin adhesive plate. Easy adjustable.

but it is a lousy fit with one that has the box cover/ too
tight and the phone tends to pop out of the holder. the mfr
needs to make one that accommodates the Note with a case.
