previously was using 'RAM Mount Garmin Oregon Bike Mount RAP-274-1-GA31U' but found the mounting a bit delicate - zip ties to the handlebar, then a zip tie to keep the unit from
migrating down the taper of my handlebars. So far this
mounting system works better and the double ball system keeps
my Oregon pointing in the right direction to maximize the
screen reflection. It also increases the number of mounting
sites considerably and can keep the GPS unit more tucked out
of the way Iceangel, December 26, 2012 The strap requires you to cut to the length you need and
after that it is irreversible, so it may fit one handlebar
and not another of a different diameter. The strap is way
too stiff for pulling through for fastening. Kelly, November 20, 2012 Hokey, finicky set-up. Pretty sure I'm not going to trust
my $700 smartphone on a road ride with mount which features
a pin that gets stuffed in with a screwdriver- should be
okay on my trainer, though. The low rating comes from:
- the set-up (and yes, I'm mechanical)
- not super secure
- oddball 1" ball won't work with 1.5" RAM everything else I
have
I have plenty of RAM products, which I love, and this is not
