Recent reviews for this item: Paul, August 27, 2012 Apparently RAM changed their sizing from when they made the X-
Grip socket joint. This ball was a shade too big. So I tried
the idea of putting the ball in the freezer and using a hair
dryer to heat the socket. Still no go, so I used a flat file
to reduce the ball a bit. Plus I covered the ball with dish
detergent. That did it, and they snapped right together.
It's been fine since. Gary, September 27, 2010 While the quality is excellent, as always from RAM, it would
be nice if this size ball head was available in the
rectangular base format. Why? Some items are already setup
for that type of base and this small head allows the use of
the small coupler - beneficial when trying to keep the
device mounting length to a minimum in a vibrating
environment, like a motorcycle.
