| I drove as a OTR (18 wheel truck) driver 2006-2008 (48 states). I bought a high-end Garmin Nuvi, such as the C680.
The “Truck routing” option is a problem. I cannot just follow whatever routing commands it says because it will eventually get me into a real pickle or problem situation.
I called Garmin technical support and the lady there told me that “Truck routing” just means wider roads and that Garmin units know NOTHING about any low bridges, etcetera.
Really, if they would just take the “Restricted Route” and “Low Bridge” information from the Appendix in the front of the of the Rand McNally trucker atlas and build that into the Garmin “Truck Routing” function, then that would be a HUGH improvement.
The Rand McNally trucker atlas is widely used by truckers and available in truck stops. | |

| My Garmin Streetpilot C330 i have it set on truck routing and it sends me on no truck routes. I have it set on the fastest route but it takes me the long way around. | |

| This model is the best value at any price. If you want a "No Nonsense" device this is the one. The optional exterior antenna (Model:GA25MCX)is great too and allows you to place the c330 any place in your vehicle. It also allows you to take it inside your home and enter all of your favourites and be "live" on the air at the same time. Pretty slick. | |
