good navi except new mapping
Murray B., January 23, 2008
I bought an Etrex Venture Cx and City Navigator last August. All together it was more than $500 dollars. The navigation software is buggy and often gives stupid or impossible directions. At some intersections it says to turn right, proceed one mile, make a U turn, proceed one mile and turn right again. This just gets to the other side of the intersection. The POI database is pitiful. I live in Edmonton and it does not even list any of the local Costcos even though they have been there for 20 years. It also does not know anything about Anthony Henday drive. When I went to update the map software the site informed me that there would be additional $75 charge for the update. Even with that there is no guarantee that this will be any more than a interesting toy. Now I wish I would have bought a wide-screen TV with the money. To hell with Garmin. Sincerely, Murray B.
