The camera takes good quality video in the 720p mode though less so and
jumpy in 1080p. As one would expect at that price there are codec and
rolling shutter artifacts when shooting moving or complex scenes such as
water waves or waving trees. I also found its wedge shape and slippery
surface ineffectual. I fixed the latter by gluing a letherette coat to the surface
wherever possible. Now I can at least hold it. The shape is another story.
Camera works well on a tripod, but handheld, the electronic image stabilizer
just does not do the job that an optical one could. There is no autofocus, so
anything closer than a medium shot is a bit blurry. The close-up switch is
affective, but only for a fixed distance. I am planning to hack off the lens and
replace it with an old cine lens, all of which have with variable focus. However,
for the price, and considering the inclusion of the external mike input, its a
fair value.

Great little pocket cam. I've recorded at 1080P and re-
played on my 46" HDTV - picture quality is solid. Not
great, but solid. About the only drawback is the digital
zoom, which is slow and choppy and more frustrating than
useful.
