This is what I needed to share the use of the GPS between two motorcycles with minimum fuss. This is the identical item that is supplied with the Zumo 550. All I needed to make both bikes ready to accept the GPS was this part and the power cable I also purchased. The original cradle is still going strong after 2 Alaska rides and 50000 mile. I always cover the bike when overnight so water damage has not been an issue. My windshield keeps most of the rain off the GPS when moving.

After just over two year's service my Zumo would no longer power up when placed in its factory mount. I had to turn it on manually. I subsequently discovered that this is a fairly common moisture-related problem -- corrosion of pins and eventual internal shorting. Some report that Garmin is aware of this flaw and will replace the mount when under warranty. When I contacted Garmin USA they were initially helpful and provided some indication that they would replace the unit (which was out of warranty), but abruptly punted me off to their Canadian distributor. I declined to contact them since their list price was significantly more than that of GPS City.

Be very carefull with this motorcycle mount, it will not hold up in the rain. First time used in the rain it shorted out on trip to Bar Harbor, ME.

An essential componant. The zinc coated pins required to be coered with the attached boot when the GPS is not in use. Uncovered pins will corrode rendering the GPS useless once the battery wears down.

Replacement mount was needed as old one stopped working after a two years, it was one day riding in rain to much.
