The replacement cost was nearly 40% less at GPS City than from Garmin. Very speedy service! Blue Max, April 19, 2013 I ride a Gold Wing. The cradle is sturdy, and made of aluminum. I clean the contacts with rubbing alcohol, and a Q-Tip. The cradle serves it's purpose.
The retaining screw IS a problem..I agree. I replaced mine with a Zumo replacement screw. It was $8.95, and it is a lot easier to remove the Zumo, now.
As for water damage when washing your motorcycle? Don't be a bonehead. Get a zip lock baggie and protect your sensitive electronics. doc, October 16, 2012 Works as advertised. Original really should last more than 2
